Vision Statement

We are an environmentally conscious company located in beautiful Fernie, British Colombia. It is our mandate to promote sustainability and energy efficiency through education and providing related service and goods in the Kootenay's, BC, Canada, and around the world.We offer product information, project solutions and project management to the private individual and commercial sector of the community interested in reducing the environmental and economical costs of existing and new homes, developments and projects.

From providing single items to helping you design and develop a complete turn-key system, we are in business to help you contribute to a cleaner environment, reduce your energy bills, and realize your independent living goals!  We provide consultation, system design, configuration integration, and installation of solar panels, wind turbine generators, micro-hydropower and solar thermal for a wide variety of applications

Sustainability is an ideal to strive towards. It means not being dependant on outside sources for your basic necessities: food, water, shelter, fuel and power. It is not an easy goal but through a combination of technology and common sense it draws ever nearer to our grasp.

About Elk Valley Sustainabiliy

Established in 2003, Elk Valley Sustainability (EVS) is a contracting company specializing in power systems for off grid homes and solar hot water.

Our off-grid customers are generally people who are building homes or lodges in the backcountry where the cost of extending power lines is usually high enough to consider on-site power production. Depending on the site, this can be achieved using a combination of solar, microhydro, wind and generators.  Over the years we have designed and provided dozens of custom power systems to customers; bringing the comforts of modern living to off-grid homes without the use of a full time generator.  This is accomplished using a combination of renewable energy sources, battery storage and backup, depending on the project.

Solar thermal, which uses energy from the sun to heat water for domestic use or hydronic heating, is a cost effective solution for both on and off-grid homes.  Elk Valley Sustainability is an approved CanSIA and SolarBC installer, which entitles our customers to thansands of dollars in government contribution on approved solar hot water systems.

Our staff engineer is available for consulting, feasibility studies, commercial system design and custom hydronic designs.
